Children’s Crafty Christmas in the Poor House
December 11, 2021 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
| £10.00The magic is in the history! Join us for a special family Children’s Crafty Christmas in the Poor House.
Hear what life was like for the children of the Poor House at Christmas time including traditions, festivities and events that would have taken place over 200 years ago. Within our new exhibition, you can see what clothes children were given to wear, learn about the work they would have been made to do and the food they were given to eat. We guarantee you will have no complaints about dinner options that night!
You’ll also get to experience our augmented reality app, to have a peek into the Children’s nursery- yes children were expected to go to school on Christmas Day! And for those that misbehave and risk being put on Santa’s naughty list, a glimpse into the ‘black hole’, where people were put for bad behaviour, will soon sort them out!
At the end of the one-hour tour, you will get to try your hand at a traditional period Christmas craft, for the children to take home, facilitated by Kathleen’s Attic. Under the twinkly lights of our Christmas tree, while your kids are enjoying some crafting, we will have mince pies and refreshments for the adults to enjoy.
We have onsite parking and are also a short walk from the nearest bus stop from the city centre. Clifton House is also a stone throw away from the bustling Cathedral Quarter, perfect for pre or post tour lunch or dinner.
Spaces on these tours are limited, and advance booking is essential.
Tickets are £10pp for family members (max 5 per booking); £12.50pp for additional adults; £10 for additional children. Tours suitable for children aged 5+.
